Growing up in Quebec City, Raynald Racine dreamed of managing companies. He felt it best to specialize in production, sales, or finance to achieve his goal. Raynald chose finance, attended Université du Québec á Montréal, and became a Chartered Professional Accountant in Canada. After university, Raynald worked in finance in the manufacturing industry and the prominent Gestion Premiére Moisson Inc. before taking a position as Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Boiseries Raymond, where he met Défis RH owner Jessie Fortin.
Boiseries Raymond had a solid partnership with Défis RH for many years before Raynald joined the company. He learned that Jessie is a thoughtful entrepreneur that values authentic relationships. “Jessie is very agile and dedicated to customer service and developing meaningful customer relationships,” says Raynald. Building genuine bonds is something that Raynald also prioritizes in his approach to business and management.
Raynald believes partnerships with external specialists are vital to his organization’s success. When you have a good relationship with an exceptional outside collaborator, you feel more capable and confident in overcoming obstacles. For example, not long ago, Boiseries Raymond’s director of Human Resources needed to take an unexpected leave of absence. Raynald immediately contacted Jessie for support. “Jessie was very proactive and quickly reached out to her network and was able to alleviate the bottleneck in our HR department,” says Raynald. Since many companies have employees that provide a wide range of expertise, Racine believes it is essential to work with specialists that help with intricate problems and processes. He says, “Recruiting is an area where we require assistance from Défis RH because they have access to the talent and relationships to find the candidates quickly and efficiently, and it saves much time and money.”
